Incredibly tired on the diet

Hi I am completing my 5th day of 'preparation' and will start on my detox supplements from the 10-day Detox programme tomorrow. I am already finding I am incredibly tired, with headaches and have been very blocked up. Is this to be expected?
Brett's Answer:
Yes this is normal in the early stages, especially the first 2-3 days, but once you start taking the herbs and they get working in your system you should find your bowel start to release extra solid material and you will start to feel great. Please let us know how you get on.

Herbal detox and weight loss

Hi Brett My health has declined in the last couple of months, bloods have revealed iron deficiency and possible thyroid dysfunction. I have coeliacs and I suspect I have IBS. One of my more recent symptoms is weight loss, and while I am interested in taking your herbal detox, I don't want to lose more weight as I am at quite a low weight now already. Is it therefore advisable to do the herbal detox now or should I wait until my weight had increased - presuming it will. Thanks Claire

Digestion in pregnancy

Hi Is there any digestive enzymes that is safe to take when pregnant. I am just over 12 weeks and having already been battling constipation and have lived most of my live with this (apparently IBS) and poor digestion/indigestion. I have taken your digest-eze before but see it has fennel seeds and licorice root in and from what i've read these aren't recommended in pregnancy. Can you shed any light for me. Thanks Vanessa
Brett's Answer:
These is a lot of negative stuff about herbs and pregnancy but you can rest assured licorice and fennel will not cause any upset to baby and especially if you are over 12 weeks you are totally safe. You can easily have 2-3 digezaid without any concerns. I hope that helps.

Detox

Hi, I have not been to the bathroom for three weeks and obviously i am getting desperate to go as i am in so much pain and very uncomfortable...my colonic therapist has recommended i go on your detox. I mainly eat fresh veges and fruit i have had a few nuts and cereals over the last few days..can i still start the detox tomorrow as i need to get things working. Is coffee off the menu with this detox? Thank you very much for your help
Brett's Answer:
Hi Linda, The detox 'n slim smoothies twice daily will get you regular again, but you may also need to relax in an epsom salt bath for a couple of hours for a couple of nights, and massage some lavender oil into your lower spine and abdomen to really help you relax. I highly recommend hot chilli, raw onions, garlic, ginger, cider vinegar and lemons added to your food in generous amounts over the next week to trigger the digestive process. Do not cut back on your food quantity as this can be the worst thing to do, but do have a lot of extra fluids, especially orange juice, grape juice and tomato juice. I would love to hear how it goes.

I need help with my weight/health

Im a 24yr old male, and weigh close to 90kg. Im around 5'6. I carry most of my weight around my waist. I plan to quit drinking etc from February to sort it out as this is the biggest ive ever been. What products do you recommend? I dont have an endless budget though.. I definitely want to do a full detox, but what else should i be doing in terms of exersize etc?
Brett's Answer:
Yes you could lose some weight by doing the detox, but the longer term program is better for losing it around the waist, especially if its external fat. This combination would probably work best for you over 2 months http://www.brettelliott.co.nz/shop/two-month-steady-slim-combo and a small amount of exercise will be enough, like walking 20 minutes 3 x weekly, or 20 push ups and 20 sit ups 3 x weekly or even both. That's plenty and the herbs will give you the extra positive energy to feel like doing do this. I look forward to hearing your success story.

Can you use olives and sundried toms?

Hi, on the lead in days prior to your detox programme and have been surfing web to find recipes etc and I came across a you tube clip that suggest you can use sundries toms and olives- is this okay? And also in your booklet you mention using a little hummus- again is this okay? I am doing the ten day programme. Many thanks
Brett's Answer:
Yes to all of the above, but keep Hummus to a minimum.

Detox and Exercise

Hi Brett Interesting looking products. Few quick queries With the 400 capsules for 30 days this equates to approx 13 per day. in the herbs part 2 you state up to 40 per day so assume the amount per day drops off for stage 3? Do you have a powder option as I struggle with that amount of caps a day. One of the benefit highlights is weight loss. I am 1.76m tall and 70kgs so definitely do not need to lose weight. As a triathlete how does hard exercise go through your detox programme? Regards Ross

wondering what detox to do?

Hi there, I was thinking of doing a detox as I was in hospital back in June for 2 weeks as I had an unsuspected bleed on my kidney...so cut things short I needed a blood transfusion, operations ect ect and nearly didn't make it (Im only 28) while I was in hospital I took LOADS of drugs :( as I was in a huge amount of pain..... Im all better now but since then have felt sluggish and no energy and would like to do a detox as I have taken so much drugs recently and Im thinking this is why Im not feeling the best.... could you please suggest which one I should do! Thanks, Lisa
Brett's Answer:
I would suggest the gentle 50 day detox, which is just using the Ultimate Herbal Detox over 50 days at a low dose. You only need one pack and just take 8 capsules daily for 50 days. I hope that helps. Brett

Soya milk and honey

Hello. Where you suggest almond or rice milk can I use soya instead? Is honey as a sweetener ok? (If I feel I need it in teas) Also, how important are the juices? I don't own a juicer and I'm guessing ready-made juices that are on the market are out. Can I have more fresh hot soups than anything? Many thanks, Marina
Brett's Answer:
Yes Soya milk and honey are OK. You can use ready made juices if you need to, just go for the best quality ones like fresh squeezed for example. Also lots of soups can be used, especially for dinners.
